About Us

The Idea and Inspiration

Blue Hearts Project is an online storytelling platform, engaging survivors worldwide to share their stories of domestic violence, sexual assault, and child abuse. Survivors can heal and feel liberated, while also helping to validate the experiences of others. These real-life stories allow others to better understand their own situations, see commonalities, feel less alone, and see a path to overcome and break free.

Meet the Founder

Ashley Bendiksen is the Founder of the Blue Hearts Project. The initiative was inspired by her everyday work as an national speaker and award-winning activist on the topics of domestic violence, teen dating violence, and sexual assault. Consistently being asked, “How can I share my story to help others too?,” BHP was born. Combining survivor empowerment with social change, BHP gives others the chance to use their stories to heal, help others, and break the long-standing silence that keeps abuse alive. It also helps others see possibility and hope. Despite years of victimization, homelessness, and dropping out of college, Ashley graduated as Class Valedictorian, led an accomplished career in victim services, advocacy, communications, and social justice, and today she is a renowned expert on these topics.
